Course Objectives:
After completion of this learning activity, the learner will be able to:
- Discuss anaphylaxis, including common causes.
- Categorize the symptoms of the different severity levels of anaphylaxis.
- Differentiate anaphylaxis from disorders with similar presentations.
- Correctly select the appropriate interventions for management of anaphylaxis in both adults and children.
- Differentiate the uses and actions of medications used to manage anaphylaxis for both adults and children.
- Select strategies to prevent anaphylaxis in patients with known allergies.
Target Audience:
The intended audience for this training is: physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, pharmacists, medical assistants, and other paraprofessionals who either give immunizations or set immunization policy for their offices, clinics, communicable disease, or infection control programs; private and public providers, including programs that prepare pediatricians, family practice specialists, residents, and medical and nursing students.
